One of the most talked-about topics in the January transfer window may be Antoine Semenyo’s future. The attacker had an incredible start to the Premier League season, scoring six goals and providing three assists in Bournemouth’s opening six games.
Two of those occurred on the first night against Liverpool, when the Cherries overcame a deficit to tie the score at Anfield before losing 4-2 in the final seconds. Semenyo, 25, has not scored or assisted since the beginning of October, but there is still interest in him.
The Ghana international’s £65 million release clause was revealed on Monday, adding to the already-simmering rumours over his future. In July, Semenyo reportedly signed a new deal with Bournemouth that would keep him on the south coast until 2030.
However, the Cherries’ determination may be put to the test this winter by Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham. Additionally, Semenyo has already spoken to one of the so-called Big Six.
Man Utd can swap three stars to Bournemouth for Antoine Semenyo
Antoine Semenyo’s January release clause will surely be activated by a number of teams, including Manchester United. However, United spent a significant amount of money in the summer on players like Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo after showing interest in Semenyo before his signing of that new contract.
In addition to lowering any possible price tag, offering a player in exchange may help Bournemouth replace their great player. Joshua Zirkzee has to leave United in order to maintain his World Cup ambition since he has entirely lost favour there. Depending on how Bournemouth intends to replace Semenyo overall, he may depart on loan or permanently.
Mason Mount has managed to secure significant playing time this season despite the signings of Cunha and Mbeumo, especially while Sesko is excluded. Mount has flourished as a high-energy player who, when healthy, would be ideal for Iraola’s approach, but his injury history will be an issue.
Similar to Zirkzee, Kobbie Mainoo had requested to go on loan from United in the summer since he was aware that his playing time would be restricted due to Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes.
