Now that United have yet again dropped hopes of getting Sancho, they are behind Gareth Bale – yet again.

The Real Madrid winger definitely wants a comeback to Premier League.

Manchester United have given up on signing Borussia Dortmund’s winger Jadon Sancho after being asked for a transfer fee of well over £100million. Ole Gunnar’s side is keen on signing Gareth Bale as Sancho’s replacement and believes he will be great for United’s attack side. Moreover, he has a sweet £18.5 million price tag on him currently, according to reports.

He said: “If those options arise, it is something I’d look at for sure. We’ll see what happens, we have plenty of time in this transfer window and a couple of others as well.

“Time will tell but mainly I think the reason is that the decision is in Real Madrid’s hands.”

Gareth Bale was also Manchester United’s top target last season – where his transfer fee was valued at £89m. However, his offer from United was turned down by Real Madrid.

When asked why Bale didn’t join Manchester United earlier when he had a better chance, Bale said: “Well, there’s an argument for that but I think the main thing, when you look back on your career, is that you look at your trophies.

“In the end that’s probably the most important thing.”
