Manchester United and Norwich City are negotiating for Zachary Baumann, a midfielder, to join Norwich City permanently. As first reported by the Manchester Evening News on Sunday, the clubs are negotiating a deal for the teenager to transfer to Carrow Road, where he would initially be a member of their youth team.
Although there are several performance stipulations in the contract, it is thought Norwich is not paying a price for Baumann. With the window shutting at 7 p.m. on Monday, City hopes to finish a transaction before the transfer deadline. This summer, Baumann would join their development squads, following in the footsteps of players like Glenn McCourt and Botan Ameen.
The 18-year-old, who plays for the nation at the under-18 level, was born in Bolton to Ukrainian parents who were originally from Kolomyia. In November 2024, he made his debut in a 2-1 loss to Kazakhstan in the Uefa Euro U19 qualifying tournament, and he currently has two caps.

He obtained Ukrainian citizenship in November, and it is anticipated that he will soon swear loyalty to the nation internationally. At the time, Baumann expressed his excitement to represent Ukraine internationally and said that he was “very happy” to have obtained citizenship.
“I am thrilled to have attained Ukrainian citizenship at last, as it will enable me to represent my nation internationally.” Although there is excitement, it is constructive because I sense that many people are rooting for me. Meeting the team excites me. And let’s get to our triumph. Not just on the football field, either.
