Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has dropped a strong hint about his preferred next club, liking a Fabrizio Romano Instagram post that linked him with a summer move to Chelsea.
Garnacho to Chelsea? Winger’s Instagram Activity Sparks Transfer Talk
The 21-year-old Argentinian, exiled from United’s pre-season tour after a fallout with manager Ruben Amorim, is pushing for a Premier League stay with a Champions League club making Chelsea the frontrunners.
Romano’s post revealed Chelsea’s dual pursuit of Garnacho and RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons, clarifying that the deals are separate but both high-priority targets.
While negotiations for Simons are advanced, Garnacho remains on the Blues’ shortlist, with a potential bid expected later in August.
United, initially demanding £70m in January, have lowered their asking price to £40m, with Napoli’s earlier interest now overshadowed by Chelsea’s appeal.
Garnacho’s social media activity underscores his eagerness for the switch, aligning with reports that he sees Stamford Bridge as the ideal destination.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are conducting due diligence on his character but appear undeterred by past controversies.
The move could hinge on outgoing transfers, with Armando Broja, Christopher Nkunku, and Raheem Sterling among those potentially making way.
For United, Garnacho’s exit would mark the end of a turbulent chapter. The winger, once hailed as a future star, has not featured under Amorim since a public rift after last season’s Europa League final.
Chelsea, however, view him as a versatile left-wing option to complement new signing Jamie Gittens, with Garnacho’s dribbling and creativity (26 goals, 22 assists in 144 United appearances) offering a tactical boost.
As talks progress, all eyes are on whether Chelsea formalize their interest—and if Garnacho’s next Instagram activity will be a farewell to Old Trafford.
