According to a source, Manchester United appears to have failed twice in their attempts to recruit Adrien Rabiot, and this time for a known reason. During Erik ten Hag’s first window in charge, which ended in the summer of 2022, the Red Devils attempted to sign Rabiot.
The move fell through despite a club-to-club agreement being reached, according to the Sun, because Rabiot’s mother, Veronique, who also serves as Adrien’s agent, priced her son out of a move. Rabiot is still a player that Manchester United is interested in, though, and since he is a free agent, there is no longer a need to pay a transfer price.
Man United were considering a move, according to TEAMtalk transfer insider Rudy Galetti, who made the confirmation as recently as September 5. The Red Devils were ‘internally discussing’ a move for Rabiot, according to an update from Caught Offside.
Adrien Rabiot’s mum has already given Man Utd major eight-word transfer boost
After the previous agreement fell through, the player’s mother and agent, Veronique, has been outspoken about her son in the past and given a favourable indication about a potential future deal with United, as has surfaced this summer. In 2022, she said La Gazzetta dello Sport, “We are on excellent terms with Manchester United.”
This statement may have been made in response by Rabiot himself this summer, following the Daily Star’s revelation that he turned down approaches from Saudi Arabia and Turkey in favour of a move to Europe.
