Man Utd owners may be saving transfer money for a new manager

The Glazers – Manchester United owners – are keeping a tight hold on their transfer funds and that too for a reason.

The reason is that they might be saving that money to sign someone other than Manchester United’s current manager Ole Gunnar.

Mark Ogden from ESPN told the Sky Sports’ Transfer Talk podcast: “You’re looking at a full rebuild but clubs never really do that in the summer. United over recent summers have done three, maybe four at most.

“You’ve got other areas where they need to be strengthen like in defence and up front.

“They are going to need to have to have two windows in one this summer. At least two windows in one this summer because they need to get people in.

“Now, there is a train of thought that they are not spending big this January because the owners might not trust Solskjaer to spend the money.

“They may be saving it for someone else. But if that’s the case, you know, Solskjaer to be fair to him signed three players last summer and they’ve all done well with varying levels of success in Maguire, Wan-Bissaka and Dan James.

“They need to back the guy, they really need to back Solskjaer because the squad is desperately needing additions.

“United won’t make the top four unless they bring at least three players in this month but that won’t bring in three players.”
