Manchester United have received a major boost in their pursuit of Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall, with the England star keen on a move to Old Trafford this summer.

United manager Michael Carrick wants to bring in competition for Luke Shaw, and Hall has emerged as the club’s primary target in that position.
The former Chelsea academy product has established himself as one of the Premier League’s finest left-backs over recent months.
Newcastle value Hall at around £60m, but the Magpies face no financial pressure to sell. The club recently banked £70m from Barcelona for winger Anthony Gordon, putting them in a strong negotiating position.
While United pursue defensive reinforcements, midfield remains the clear focus for INEOS and Carrick this summer.
The club have already secured a full agreement to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson, who received a late Brazil call-up and will complete his medical next month.
With Casemiro already confirmed to leave, United want at least two new central midfielders. That number could rise to three if Manuel Ugarte also departs.
Elsewhere, United have ended their interest in Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson after Manchester City lodged a £120m bid for the England international.
The Red Devils understand Anderson prefers a move to the Etihad, so they will now focus on players who genuinely want to join.
