United lost to Liverpool in the derby.

However, they were without one player.

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford is facing at least 2-3 months on the sidelines with a stress fracture of the back. The 22-year-old picked up the injury after being introduced as a second-half substitute in the midweek FA Cup third-round replay win over Wolves.

Speaking after Sunday’s 2-0 Premier League defeat at Liverpool, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told Sky Sports: “He has suffered a bad injury, it is a stress fracture. It happened against Wolverhampton and it is not something that has happened before. I’m looking at Marcus to be out for a while. He won’t be back, I am not a doctor so I don’t know exactly, but we are looking at several weeks and then some rehab after that probably.

“We have had many injuries to big players this season, it is just an unfortunate position that we are in. The window is open and it might be that we look at something for the short term. We are not desperately looking. We are looking at numbers and if the right one is there for us then something might be possible.”

Rashford aggravated an injury against Wolves at midweek in the FA Cup. He made sub appearances in both FA Cup dates with Wolves, but started eight other matches in a 34-day span. He went 90 minutes in five of those outings. The 22-year-old forward has 19 goals and five assists in 31 matches this season.
