If reports from ESPN are to be believed, Manchester United have agreed on personal terms with Sporting CP’s Bruno Fernandes.

The 24-year-old playmaker has been on the Red Devils’ radar for quite a long time, with Tottenham also said to be in the race for his signature. According to reports, however, the United officials managed to strike a deal with the player on Monday following a  meeting between the two parties.

The only hurdle now remaining to be passed is the transfer fee that Manchester United are ready to fork out to sign Fernandes. Sporting CP have slapped a £54m price on their prized asset. Manchester United are confident of sealing a deal in the region of £31m.

Bruno Fernandes scored 32 goals and registered 18 assists in 53 appearances for Sporting in all competitions last season. The midfielder also oozed classy performances in Portugal’s UEFA Nations League triumph.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has listed Fernandes as a top target this summer. The Norwegian is looking to bolster his midfield options following the departures of Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera.

The Red Devils are eager to complete their third signing before jetting out to pre-season on the coming Sunday.
