Manchester United have set their sights on Monaco’s Vanderson as a potential successor to Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
With Wan-Bissaka expected to attract offers this summer, United are exploring options to bolster their defense, and Vanderson’s attacking prowess makes him a standout candidate.
Vanderson, who joined Monaco from Gremio in 2020 for €11 million, has quickly established himself as a dynamic right-back in Ligue 1.
Last season, he scored three goals in 23 appearances, contributing significantly to Monaco’s second-place finish. His offensive capabilities contrast sharply with Wan-Bissaka’s more defensive style, making him an appealing option for United’s tactical evolution.
United’s interest in Vanderson aligns with reports from Sky Sports, which suggest that the Brazilian is on a shortlist that includes Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong.
Tottenham and Napoli have also shown interest in Vanderson, highlighting his growing reputation across Europe.
Wan-Bissaka, with only a year left on his contract, has struggled for consistent playing time under Erik ten Hag, losing his starting spot to Diogo Dalot.
United may consider selling him for around £15 million, potentially using the funds to secure Vanderson, who is valued at £30 million and under contract until 2028.
In addition to reinforcing the right side of their defense, United are also looking at left-back options due to injury concerns with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia. Targets include Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez, Girona’s Miguel Gutierrez, and Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon.
As United prepare for a crucial transfer window, Vanderson emerges as a key figure in their defensive overhaul, promising to add a new dimension to their attacking play.
