OFFICIAL: Man United confirm arrival of PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte

Following the closing of the winter transfer window, GIVEMESPORT sources have disclosed that Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim and other Old Trafford officials have immediately focused on persuading Kobbie Mainoo to sign a new contract.

The only last-minute additions made by the Red Devils, who are currently in the bottom half of the Premier League after losing 2-0 to Crystal Palace last weekend, were left-back Patrick Dorgu, who completed a £30 million move from struggling Serie A side Lecce, and Ayden Heaven, who joined from Arsenal.

Marcus Rashford joined Aston Villa on an initial loan deal with a £40 million buyout option, allowing Amorim to let one academy graduate take on a new challenge halfway through the season. However, Manchester United is anxious to make sure Mainoo does not leave the team in the upcoming months.

Kobbie Mainoo agreeing on new contract

According to GMS sources, Manchester United has received a major boost in their attempt to persuade Mainoo to sign a new contract because he isn’t looking for a new challenge away from his boyhood club. As a result, plans are being made to have him on better terms before the season ends. According to sources, Mainoo was not content with United’s first contract offer and demanded £200,000 per week in order to commit.

According to the source, United is planning to boost the ante in order to agree to a new contract before the current season finishes since they do not want to lose the midfield star next summer. In the upcoming seasons, hopefully, fans will see more of Mainoo and Garnacho, and INEOS won’t have to make dramatic moves like selling academy wonderkids to make ends meet.
