Manchester United Boss Hopes To Bring Back Paul Pogba Replacement With Him From Barcelona

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be visiting Barcelona in hopes of convincing Ivan Rakitic into a move to Manchester United.

The Old Trafford boss has made his pick on who he wishes to replace Paul Pogba with. Rakitic, even though is 31 years old now, boasts of remarkable passing ability and experience in the highest level of football.

United have previously contacted the Blaugrana over the Croatian’s switch but talks never progressed beyond the inital greetings. Barcelona reportedly even agreed to a negotiation.

Rakitic’s playing time is about to be cut short next season with the introduction of Frenkie de Jong into the squad. With the likes of the younger Arthur Melo and Sergio Busquets already guaranteed a starting spot, there is expected to be strong competition for the third midfield spot.

At United, the Croatian international could be a senior central figure around whom the whole team ticks. Solskjaer’s vision of signing only young talent does not exactly eradicate top tier talents.

The former Red Devils forward wants to strike a balance in the squad and build it into the system he wants to play them in.

United reportedly bid €35m for Rakitic but they have been hit back with a €50m valuation. The Premier League outfit certainly has the funds to pursue. The question remains on whether they will see it out this time.
