The decision to sell Marcus Rashford to Barcelona for £26 million has left Manchester United executives feeling sorrow. Since going on loan to the Spanish powerhouses last summer, Rashford has turned around his faltering career.

With 35 games and 10 goals, he has regained his spot in Thomas Tuchel’s England team. United believes thinks Rashford is worth around £50 million, and they are aware that a number of rival teams are hoping to buy him this summer.

However, when the loan agreement was reached between the two clubs, United consented to give Barca the first chance to sign him for no more than £26 million. It is believed that the conditions of the deal have irritated several senior United officials.

Additionally, Barca could try to take advantage of Rashford’s desire to make his transfer to the Nou Camp permanent by trying to work out an even cheaper fee for the attacker. There have been rumours that Michael Carrick, the interim manager, wants Rashford to return to United.

Rashford’s meeting ends with £52m deal with Barca

The “financial aspect is crucial” for a deal to be completed this summer, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, and Manchester United’s “position is clear”. “Marcus Rashford’s situation is still open ahead of the summer,” Romano clarified on his YouTube account.

“Barcelona would like to retain him permanently since they are really pleased with his performances and attitude under Hansi Flick. ” A €30 million buyout option is in place, but Barcelona would rather haggle over the price with Manchester United. “The money is important, including Rashford’s wage structure in a long-term deal as well as the transfer price.

The stance taken by Manchester United is unambiguous: the €30 million provision was negotiated upon last summer and is still in effect. “Whether or not a permanent agreement can be reached will depend on talks between the clubs and discussions about salary terms.”
