According to United in Focus, Manchester United is hoping to make a surprise move this summer to acquire Tolu Arokodare, a striker for Racing Genk. In order to improve on a terrible 2024–2025 season in which they finished 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final, the Red Devils are rumored to be looking to add a new striker during the summer transfer window for Ruben Amorim.
Although there has been a lot of interest in well-known candidates for the role this summer, there are now rumors that United executives may be considering more modest and obscure candidates. Arokodare of Genk is one name that has surfaced on the shortlist of striker options that Manchester United has reportedly been gathering as a backup to its current top targets.
A number of clubs throughout Europe are now showing interest in the 24-year-old, who finished the 2024–25 season with 17 goals and 23 goals overall, making him the top scorer in the Belgian league.

Arokodare may now be added to the list of strikers desired at Old Trafford, while United is still in talks for Hugo Ekitike and Viktor Gyokeres—more on them later. After making a significant impression on scouts, Arokodare “has emerged on United’s radar,” according to journalist Graeme Bailey and United In Focus.
The 24-year-old has been introduced to transfer chiefs Vivell and Wilcox, who appreciate his skills. We know the club is moving on from Rasmus Hojlund, and Ruben Amorim knows what he wants—that target man, Bailey stated. We are aware that Liam Delap was their first choice, but we also know that he [Amorim] wasn’t too interested. Victor Osimhen and Victor Gyokeres are targets for a reason.
Arokodare, who is available for about £20 million (€23 million or $27 million), is characterized as a forward with modest costs and tremendous potential. Additionally, the Nigerian would not expect exorbitant salaries, which would free up funds for United to upgrade other jobs.
