Manchester United Face Tottenham And West Ham Pressure For Dutch Winger

Latest reports claim that Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United have joined Manchester United in the quest for Steven Bergwijn’s signature.

The 21-year-old winger plies his trade for PSV Eindhoven and is currently valued at £25m. AFC Bournemouth and Inter Milan have also expressed interest in him but the Red Devils understandably might still be heavy favourites.

Tottenham have not a single signing this season which can be attributed to the monstrous expenses they are currently facing over stadium renovations. Instead, the Spurs are looking to lighten up their ship by finding a buyer for Vincent Janssen, having already gotten rid of Mousa Dembele.

United have drawn links to a number of wingers including Juventus’ Douglas Costa. Bergwijn is a rising talent in the Eredivisie with 10 goals and 9 assists recorded in 25 games this season. He is a graduate of the PSV academy and also has 2 caps to his name for the Netherlands national side. Ronald Koeman awarded him with a debut start in the 3-0 win over Germany last October.

Manchester United are on a 7-game winning streak with players like Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba rejuvenated under interim boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Ed Woodward and the rest of the United hierarchy want a top-four finish in the Premier League this season. It is unclear whether the team do need another winger in the current lineup or if they will be sanctioned without first acquiring a permanent manager.
