According to Football Transfers this afternoon, Manchester United has finally reached an agreement to sign Bryan Mbeumo, a forward for Brentford. Journalist Steve Kay claims that after more than a month of negotiations between United and their Premier League opponents, the Red Devils made a significant breakthrough on Monday morning that resulted in an agreement between all parties.
Mbeumo has been the club’s top target for more than four weeks, and Football Transfers has revealed that United has finally made the necessary progress to reach an agreement with Brentford for him, according to Kay.
According to the source, the Bees had turned down the Red Devils’ many proposals for the Cameroon international, but amid new club-to-club negotiations on Monday morning, a compromise was reached.
Brentford has been requesting a total of €80 million (£70 million), although Football Transfers has not revealed the precise amount of the agreed-upon sum.
According to the source, the move for Mbeumo, who Alan Shearer has called unstoppable, might now be finalized in the next hours and days because the last obstacle has been removed.
Manchester United have finally landed one of their summer targets
United had hoped to sign Mbeumo from Brentford after securing a move for Matheus Cunha early in the transfer season. The Bees first rejected their bid of £45 million plus £10 million in add-ons, and then they rejected a second offer of £55 million plus £7.5 million in add-ons.
After fulfilling Cunha’s release clause, the Red Devils paid £62.5 million for him, while Brentford is said to be worth £65 million for Mbeumo. Last season, he finished the Premier League with 20 goals and seven assists.
Football Transfers claims that a significant agreement between the parties was reached on Monday. Several Premier League teams have expressed interest in Mbeumo, but United has always been his first choice. According to the Football Transfers report, “the transfer is now in the process of being finalized and the last remaining issues between Man Utd and Brentford have been resolved.”
With the Red Devils still expecting to add a striker before the transfer window closes, United manager Ruben Amorim is expected to employ Mbeumo as one of his number 10s alongside Cunha.
