Manchester United must pay €75 million (£65 million) if they want to sign Ajax’s exciting young winger Mika Godts this summer.

Ajax tell Manchester United: Pay €75m or forget Mika Godts this summer

The 20-year-old Belgian has enjoyed a stunning season in Amsterdam, scoring 16 goals and providing 13 assists in just 39 matches.

His dribbling skills and electric pace have drawn comparisons to compatriot Eden Hazard, with Godts often cutting inside from the left onto his stronger right foot.

Ajax have warned the Red Devils that they will not accept a lower fee unless the Dutch club fail to qualify for European competition.

Currently sitting fourth in the Eredivisie, Ajax risk missing out entirely on Europe if they slip to sixth place. That scenario would force the club to lower their demands.

United have already made official contact with Ajax to kickstart negotiations for the two-cap Belgium international.

However, they face stiff competition from Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea, all of whom have watched Godts closely this season.

The winger’s agent, Niels De Jonck, recently stated:

“Together with Youri Baas, Godts should be Ajax’s next mega-transfer. The financial need to sell has disappeared in Amsterdam, but they won’t refuse a significant amount.”

Earlier this month, scouts from Arsenal and Chelsea watched Godts score a spectacular solo goal against NAC, where he dribbled past three defenders and the goalkeeper before slotting into an empty net.

United will hope Godts delivers more than their last high-profile signing from Ajax. Antony joined for £82 million in 2022 but has struggled to justify his price tag at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils aim to completely revamp their left side this summer, with Godts emerging as their primary attacking target.

Whether they meet Ajax’s €75 million valuation or wait for a potential discount could define their summer transfer business.
