Manchester United have opened discussions with West Bromwich Albion regarding a permanent transfer for midfielder Toby Collyer, according to multiple reports.

The Championship side have approached the Red Devils about securing the 22-year-old’s services on a full-time basis following his loan spell at The Hawthorns during the first half of the 2025/26 season.
Collyer’s temporary stint in the West Midlands was unfortunately cut short by a calf injury, but he still managed to make 12 appearances for the Baggies before returning to Old Trafford.
The young midfielder finds himself in the final year of his current contract with United, making a permanent sale a logical move for the club while they can still command a transfer fee.
Sky Sports reporter Danyal Khan broke the news of the talks, with fellow journalist Ben Jacobs subsequently confirming the discussions centre around a permanent exit for the former Brighton academy graduate.

Collyer’s potential departure forms part of a wider strategic overhaul at Old Trafford under INEOS leadership.
The new regime appears determined to monetise the club’s academy by cashing in on young talents who may not be destined for first-team stardom.
This approach has already seen Czech goalkeeper Radek Vitek, 22, join Middlesbrough for approximately £14 million, with the deal including a buy-back clause and a 35 per cent sell-on fee.
The Collyer move could be part of a broader exodus of young talent, with reports suggesting 19-year-old left-back Harry Amass could also leave.
The defender, who spent last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, is reportedly available for around £7 million with additional add-ons.
With European qualification secured for the coming season, United will face an increased fixture schedule, which may offer fringe players more opportunities to impress.
