According to reports, AS Roma are in talks with Manchester United over a loan deal for Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean has had a disappointing 18 months since moving from Arsenal to Old Trafford, scoring 5 goals in 45 games for the Red Devils.

However, Roma face a tough task over agreeing on personal terms with the 30-year-old regarding his salary. Sanchez is the top earner at United, pocketing £500k-per-week including bonuses. It is reported that United will themselves have to pay him a part of his salary for the move to materialise.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has also said that he intends for Alexis to stay his season.

“Alexis has come in and trained well.”

“He’s four or five weeks behind the boys and has not played apart from the one behind closed doors here, so I think he’ll see this as an opportunity as well to make his mark.”

“I do expect him to stay, there’s a striker there we think is going to be able to score some goals.”

Manchester United will face Chelsea in their opening game tomorrow. However, Alexis is set to sit out of the fixture owing to his late arrival following the Copa America fixture.
