Manchester United Keen On Beating Liverpool To £25m Winger

Manchester United are reportedly still keen on fighting Liverpool to the signing of Steven Bergwijn.

The PSV Eindhoven winger is priced at £25m and has attracted the attention of quite a few European outfits including the aforementioned Premier League heavyweights. United have drawn links with Juventus’ Douglas Costa as well but Bergwijn understandably will be a cheaper option.

The 21-year-old attacker has struck the back of the net 10 times in 25 games this season along while also setting up 9 assists. He is a graduate of the PSV academy and also has 2 caps to his name for the Netherlands national side. Ronald Koeman awarded him with a debut start in the 3-0 win over Germany last October.

United seemingly have turned their season around after the introduction of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer into the managerial position. Players like Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba are firing on all cylinders while there has been improvements in Romelu Lukau and several other players’ seasonal form as well.

Ed Woodward has not let up on making more additions this season and is even considering some of the players that was previously scouted by Jose Mourinho. While Solskjaer might not have the final say in the club’s transfers, he has been included in the process.

However, Bergwijn’s signing would be unnecessary with talents like Rashford, Martial, Jese Lingard and Alexis Sanchez already in the squad. The Red Devils should concentrate on improving their defence line.
