Manchester United are currently having a busy summer overhauling their squad at the moment. The Red Devils are looking to sign a couple of players after roping in Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Swansea and Crystal Palace respectively.

With United keen to make a third signing, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has requested Ed Woodward to recruit Newcastle’s Sean Longstaff this summer. The United manager views the 21-year-old as a replacement for the ageing Nemanja Matic.

However, Longstaff won’t come cheap if United decide to make a move for him. According to Sky Sports, Newcastle have slapped a £50m price tag on the young talent. The Toons have already lost manager Rafa Benitez and attacker Ayoz Perez this summer and are keen on holding on to Longstaff.

Longstaff made his senior debut for Newcastle in December last year. He made 13 appearances for the club until being ruled out due to a knee injury in March. However, his meagre minutes on the pitch were enough to impress Solskjaer, who immediately urged the United hierarchy to acquire his services.
