Manchester United Make Diego Godin Contact : Reports

Manchester United have presented Atletico Madrid Diego Godin a chance to join the club, according to reports.

The Uruguayan centre back rejected United in the summer but the Red Devils have revitalised their interest in the player. The 32 year old’s contract is scheduled to expire at the end of the season although the Spanish club are trying to persuade the defender to extend his association with the club.

Inter Milan have emerged as a clear favourite to land the player once the season gets finished. The Italian side are reportedly ready to offer him a huge hike to his current wage in the tune of £5.4m per season. Also, they are proposing a two year contract with an option to extend it for a further year.

Atletico have also reportedly offered the same amount in a bid to keep the player at the Wanda Metropolitano but the defender is likely to leave the club to start a new chapter in his football career.

United are in serious need of defensive reinforcements as defensive vulnerabilities have been the reason of United’s recent downfall. Although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has managed to stabilise the backline the Red Devils do have to tighten their defence in a bid to restore normalcy at the club.
