Ander Herrera Twitter account

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera is on the verge of renewing his stay at the club, according to report.

The Spanish midfielder has been severely linked with a return to his boyhood club Athletic Bilbao but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s timely intervention could play a very important role in convincing the player to extend his association with the club.

The club activated a one year extension last season to keep him at the Old Trafford but the 29 year old is edging towards the final period of his contract. The midfielder arrived in Manchester back in 2014 and since then has played a pivotal role in the transformation of the side.

There has been uncertainty hovering over his future but Solskjaer is a keen admirer of the player and is believed to have played a major role in earning his trust. United are expected to conclude negotiations with his representative very soon and the player is likely to get a wage hike to his current £120,000-a-week salary.

Earlier Athletic Bilbao sporting director insisted they are ready to welcome the midfielder to the club but the player is set to commit his long term future very soon.
