Jadon Sancho was rumored with a move to Manchester United all summer.
The English winger was set to join the Red Devils with Dortmund setting the boundary line on a fixed transfer sum and a date pretty early into the window.
However, the board from United made a meal of the situation and it led to an absolutely redundant chase.
The player was never close to a move as negotiations never even took off let alone become tough.
“[They] misjudged the situation,” the Dortmund director told ZDF Sports. “We would be more willing to compromise. We had a clear line and will continue to do so next summer. In this industry, you can never say that a player is completely unsellable.”
Quizzed on Sancho’s future, Watzke added: “I heard and read everywhere in the spring that Sancho was gone. But he’s [still] here. We had an agreement with him and it didn’t look like [he would leave].”
These seem words that every United fan would have expected to hear about their board – who as are as incompetent as anyone in the game but at the same time Dortmund is showing signs of wanting to sell their star man!
