Manchester United Offer £51m for Lille Star Leny Yoro
Manchester United has increased their chase of Lille’s excellent defender, Leny Yoro, with an additional bid of over £51 million.
As Raphael Varane’s departure gets closer, the Red Devils are looking to strengthen their defensive ranks with the young Frenchman.
According to Spanish daily AS, United are very serious about obtaining Yoro’s services, having already placed an offer close to Lille’s asking price.
The club’s quickly reflects their desire to quickly fill the void that Varane will leave when his contract expires at the end of the month.
Considering United’s strong financial pitch, Real Madrid remains a formidable opponent. The European champions also love Yoro, but are wary to pay more than £34 million for the 18-year-old, whose contract with Lille expires in June 2025.
This cash disparity puts Lille in a better negotiating position, but it also means they have to convince Yoro, who appears keen to join Madrid, to stay.
Yoro’s aim is evident; the sources suggest he is eager to finish his contract with Lille and join Madrid on a free transfer next summer if an instant move does not materialize.
This offers a big problem for United, who must now focus on appealing the youngster with promises beyond merely financial rewards.
With Varane’s exit, United can offer him a starting role alongside Lisandro Martinez, an opportunity that might not be as readily available at Madrid.
The coming weeks will be crucial as United aim to secure one of Europe’s most promising defenders. The club’s ability to offer Yoro regular playing time could be the decisive factor in winning this transfer battle.
