Manchester United are ready to pursue Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouameni this summer, but only if the Spanish giants decide to put him up for sale.
Manchester United Target Tchouameni But Await Real Madrid’s Green Light
The 26-year-old Frenchman has been a regular starter for Madrid since his €80 million move from AS Monaco in 2022.
While his four-year spell has seen some inconsistent moments, this season Tchouameni has emerged as one of the club’s most reliable performers alongside goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
United’s interest comes as they prepare to let Casemiro leave Old Trafford. The Premier League club see Tchouameni as a potential replacement for his fellow countryman.
According to The Telegraph, Tchouameni features on United’s shortlist, though their top target remains Nottingham Forest’s Elliott Anderson.
Forest have placed a staggering €115 million price tag on Anderson, making Tchouameni an attractive alternative.
However, Real Madrid appear unlikely to sanction a departure.
Sources in the Spanish capital suggest the club would sooner allow Eduardo Camavinga to leave for the right offer than part with Tchouameni.
Madrid’s plan involves bringing in a new midfielder to partner Tchouameni, not to replace him.
The Frenchman’s importance has become clear this turbulent season. Whenever injury, suspension or rotation has removed him from the lineup, Los Blancos have visibly struggled. His consistency has made him nearly indispensable.
One factor could force Madrid’s hand: Tchouameni has only two years remaining on his current contract.
The club must either negotiate a new deal in the coming months or consider selling him while his value remains high.
If they choose the latter, Manchester United stand ready to make their move. For now, though, the decision rests entirely with the Bernabéu hierarchy.
