Manchester United preparing a £60 million bid for Chelsea star

Jose Mourinho asked about the player back in January

Manchester United are looking to bolster their squad in the transfer window after an underwhelming campaign this season, not winning a single silverware. Their priority is to add defensive reinforcements and club will also look to sell few players to accommodate new signings.

But Jose Mourinho also keen to bolster his forward line this summer as he wants someone to liven up his side’s attack next season, who were the lowest scoring team in the top 4 last season.

United are preparing a £60 million bid to take Willian from Chelsea this summer according to Daily Mail. Mourinho is seeking a reunion with the Brazil winger, who he has previously worked with when he was the manager of the Blues.

The Portuguese is a big admirer of the Brazilian and wanted to sign him last summer but the player decided to stay as the club returned to Champions League. He even asked about him in January but the club didn’t want to sell him.

He may not dazzle as much as his more fanciful teammates at club or national team level likes of Hazard and Neymar, but rare is the game where he doesn’t display obvious effort, determination, and commitment to the cause.

The 29 year old joined the Premier League giants from Shakhtar Donetsk for a reported fee of £30 million in 2013. He has been one of the most constant players for Chelsea for the last three years and was voted the club’s Player of The Year for the 2015/2016 campaign.

But the winger was used sparingly last season by Antonio Conte and mostly came on as a substitute. Though the campaign was his best ever tally with 13 goals and 11 assists in 48 appearances and even admitted to finding life on the bench difficult.

Willian has two years remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge and could be tempted to leave this summer.
