Manchester United Ready To Fight It Out With Chelsea For €100m Midfielder

Portuguese news outlet, A Bola claims that Manchester United have contacted Sporting Lisbon about Bruno Fernandes.

The Red Devils have reportedly spoken with the player’s representatives as well regarding a possible move to Old Trafford this summer.

The 24-year-old midfielder is wanted by plenty of European outfits like Chelsea, Liverpool and  Atletico Madrid. He has been in remarkable form this season, scoring 23 goals and laying out 13 assists in 41 appearances for the Portuguese side.

Fernandes also has 11 senior caps for the Portugal national side and was seen in action during the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He is a versatile central midfielder who can play from both deep and attacking roles.

Sporting do have the bargaining rights since Fernandes’ release clause is thought to be worth around €100m. Now, it is expected to turn into a rat race with all the top clubs clobbering for the player’s signature.

United have definitely found new life under their interim boss, Ole Gunner Solskjaer but that does not mean they are not looking to restrengthen after this season.

With a top-four finish still uncertain, the Red Devils are ready to spend the extra cash to improve their chances for the 2019/20 campaign.

Their midfield is already dominated by Paul Pogba with Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic serving as a defensive shield. However, adding Fernades could give United more options to work with.
