In an apparent attempt to stifle interest from Real Madrid and Liverpool, Manchester United reportedly offered Lille youngster Leny Yoro a six-year contract in the summer transfer window, with Joshua Zirkzee all but confirmed.
Based on a report by Florian Plettenberg on X (formerly Twitter), it appears that United has proactively reached out to the 18-year-old, offering him a lucrative contract that will run until 2029. Should Yoro sign, the Red Devils will also have the option to extend by one more year, which can be activated once his ‘original’ contract expires.
Although Liverpool and Real were rumoured to have admired Yoro at first, United surprised everyone by making a bid that was so outrageous that Lille agreed to sign the Red Devils. This happened over the course of the last week.
Real Madrid target ‘touched by’ Man Utd accepted offer as defender views bid as significant
As the Red Devils take on Real Madrid, Lille center-back Leny Yoro has reportedly been “touched by” Manchester United’s interest in signing him. After signing forward Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna over the weekend for a reported £36.5 million, the Red Devils are hoping to make several early moves in the transfer market.
The French newspaper Le Parisien reports that the Premier League team has presented “convincing arguments” to sign Yoro, with Man Utd even prepared to up their offer to €60 million in order to beat Real Madrid in the race for the Frenchman. The Red Devils’ original offer was for €50 million.
