In order to manage their fitness before the season begins in two weeks, Manchester United will split up their team into groups. Following their March internationals, United’s domestic schedule continues with FA Cup quarterfinal matches against Nottingham Forest on April 1.
Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo are expected to return from injury at the City Ground as United play seven games in April after making it to the Europa League quarterfinals.
Mason Mount made his matchday squad comeback for the first time in three months during Sunday’s 3-0 victory over Leicester City, but he did not play as a substitute. While Tom Heaton, Luke Shaw, Jonny Evans, Amad, and Altay Bayindir may return this season, Lisandro Martinez is out for the remainder of the year.
“Having time off is difficult for a coach,” Amorim stated. “We will split up the bunch. Mason Mount and Toby are among the guys that need to improve their fitness.
Manchester United have revealed plans for future
“We must regain our maximum level of fitness. These players, along with Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo, will be brought in for the last push-in contests. Since some players will be taking more days off than usual, we will try to be ready for the final two months by splitting up the players and giving them various supplies.
Luke Shaw is another one of you; he will be ready soon. Maybe I am missing someone. Everyone on the national team is prepared and has ideas for this break, and we have almost every player.
The club overcame 19th-place Leicester; Alejandro Garnacho scored his first goal in 25 games, while Rasmus Hojlund ended a 21-game goal drought. This season, Hojlund has eight goals while Garnacho has nine.
“You can see all the situations in the game and have these opportunities,” Amorim clarified. And in these situations, when some players are hurt, you have your academy. Here is their chance.
