Manchester United are reportedly preparing a bid to sign Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest as part of a planned midfield revamp next year.
Elliot Anderson: United’s Next Big Signing in the Midfield Rebuild
According to Fichajes, United view Anderson as a key target for the January transfer window.
The 22-year-old England international has impressed since joining Forest from Newcastle United last summer.
United’s manager Rúben Amorim is said to favour a dynamic, high-intensity midfield and sees Anderson as someone who can inject energy, box-to-box mobility and line-breaking passes into the engine room.
Currently, United are facing potential changes in their midfield. Veteran Casemiro is nearing the end of his contract, while younger options such as Kobbie Mainoo are not yet guaranteed regular starts.
This has triggered plans to secure one or more reinforcements for next season.
That said, Forest appear under no urgent pressure to sell Anderson — he remains a key player for them — and value him highly.
One report indicates their asking price could be around £80 million, although United believe they might get a deal done closer to £60 million.
The upcoming weeks will be telling: United are reported to be working on the offer structure and timing, while Forest must decide whether to sell mid-season or resist until summer.
If the deal goes ahead, it could mark a major step in United’s rebuild and Anderson’s rise to the next level.
