Manchester United Shift Their Attention From Bruno Fernandes To This £30m Newcastle Midfielder

Manchester United are confident of making Sean Longstaff their third signing of the summer after Rafel Benitez’s exit from Newcastle United.

The midfielder broke into the Magpies squad last season and made 11 consecutive starts. A knee injury in Marce got him sidelined for the rest of the campaign but he did enough to impress the Red Devils scouts.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has adopted a new recruitment policy at Old Trafford where he looks for young and hungry talents instead of expensive stars who will be far too difficult to mould. Following that policy, he has brought in a 21-year-old Daniel James from Swansea City and is about to finalise the arrival of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace.

Longstaff has been vocal about staying with Newcastle for longer but United are convinced they can steal him away. The Metro claims that signing Longstaff will cost the Red Devils £30m even though they did not plan on going higher than £25m before.

Solskjaer is looking for an Ander Herrera-replacement as the Spaniard closes in on completing his free move to Paris Saint-Germain. Longstaff is still very young and has shown the pedigree to grow into a starring role.

This is the latest direction Manchester United are on. They are more interested in bringing in Longstaff than paying out £60-70m for Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes.
