Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo is unhappy with Erik ten Hag, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Things are not going great between Ronaldo and Erik ten Hag. The club produced their best display of the Dutchman’s era to convincingly beat Spurs on Wednesday. However, the victory was somewhat overshadowed by Ronaldo’s antics off the pitch.

It wasn’t all rosy for the former Ajax coach after Ronaldo refused to come off the bench having been dropped from the side after the weekend draw with Newcastle.

The Portuguese was seen heading back to the dressing room before the game finished and left Old Trafford before celebrating the win with his teammates.

According to The Athletic, the former Real Madrid forward has been forced to train alone and has been left out of the squad that faces Chelsea.

In a statement, United said: “Cristiano will not be part of the Manchester United squad for this Saturday’s game against Chelsea. The rest of the squad is fully focused on preparing for that fixture.”

Ronaldo has since taken to Instagram to apologise, but reports have emerged that United could look at terminating his contract.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Obviously Ronaldo is unhappy with the situation, and that’s fine.

“But I don’t understand how he can logically look at the situation and think that he should be playing. Manchester United are clearly better at the moment without him, that was the best performance they’ve had all season against Tottenham.”

It looks a long way back for the Portugal international now, who’s not only been struggling to perform on the pitch, but the way he’s acting off it simply won’t help his case to get his own way.

Ten Hag isn’t afraid to make big decisions and dropping Portuguese from the squad for the Chelsea game really feels like the beginning of the end for his second United spell.

We might well have seen the 37-year-old in the famous red shirt for the final time. He is keen to make a January move next year.
