Manchester United have reportedly submitted a £90 million bid to Leicester City for centre-back Harry Maguire.

According to the Daily Star, Manchester United are still keen to sign Maguire despite Leicester’s incredibly huge asking price.

Manchester United were interested in signing Maguire last summer but failed to do so. Maguire produced another impressive showing in the 2018/19 season which has propelled the Red Devils to reignite interest in the 26-year old.

Manchester United reportedly pulled out of the race to sign Maguire because Leicester City were demanding £90 million for him.

However, they made an improved bid of £70 million which Leicester rejected. The Red Devils are now eager to land Maguire and have tabled a bid of £90 million.

Lack of a quality centre-back was a key reason behind Manchester United doing poorly last season. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eager to bring in new reinforcements this summer and has already signed two players in Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Bringing in a centre-back is still Manchester United’s top priority and the addition of someone like Harry Maguire is something the club can very much do with.

Maguire has been a key player for Leicester City for the past two seasons. He was named Leicester’s Player of the Season for 2017/18 and followed it with an impressive showing in the World Cup in Russia, assisting a goal and scoring his first international goal in the quarter-final against Sweden exactly a year back.

Maguire continued to impress for Leicester City last season and cemented his place in the club and in the national team.

Provided Leicester City agree to sell Maguire for £90 million, he will surpass Virgil van Dijk as the most expensive defender in the world.
