According to reports, Manchester United have tabled an offer of £46m for Ajax winger David Neres. The Red Devils are keen on overhauling their squad and view the Brazilian as one of the best options to upgrade their squad.

Neres had an impressive season with Ajax where he scored 12 goals in 50 games for the Dutch side. He also guided them to the Eredivisie title and semifinals in the UEFA Champions League last season.

Ajax are unwilling to let the 22-year-old leave, having already seen the departures of Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong to Juventus and Barcelona respectively. They are said to be holding out the Brazilian for £64m in a bid to price out all the interested parties.

Neres is under contract with Ajax until 2022 and is said to be keen on extending his stay by signing a new contract.

United have spent the majority of their time chasing Leicester City’s Harry Maguire. The Red Devils are also expected to complete deals for Bruno Fernandes, Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic.

The transfer window for the English Premier League clubs is set to shut down on August 8 at 5 p.m.
