Manchester United Take Firm Stance In Naming Solskjaer Their Manager

Manchester United have taken the decision to continue on their usual process of vetting down potential candidates for the permanent managerial position.

The Mirror understands that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has impressed the Red Devils board with his perfect record of 8 wins but that has not confirmed his position to continue beyond this season.

An inside source told the British media outlet, “It is going fantastically well under Ole, but the club is sticking with a process that will not be concluded until the summer.”

United recorded an impressive 1-3 win over Arsenal last Friday to progress further into the FA Cup competition. Solskjaer’s men ran down the Gunners defence since the opening whistle with goals from Alexis Sanchez, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial.

The team has also climbed their way back from a massive 9-point deficit to place themselves level with Arsenal in the 6th spot of the Premier League. The Norwegian caretaker manager has turned around one of the club’s worst starts in decades to get back into the top four race.

Many of the United faithful have been swayed by Solskjaer’s immediate impact as an interim boss but the sample size is still far too small to judge the 45-year-old.

The club’s executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward and the rest of the American owners are expected to finalise their decision only after the conclusion of the 2018/19 campaign.

Tottenham Hotspurs manager, Mauricio Pochettino is still on the managerial shortlist at Old Trafford.
