Manchester United Target Speaks Up On His Future

Toby Alderweireld insists he is planning to stay at Tottenham Hotspur next season.

The Belgian defender had been linked with a move to Manchester United but stayed at the North London club. He has played a pivotal role for Mauricio Pochettino and is expected to lead the Spurs backline in the Champions League final against Liverpool on Saturday.

Spurs triggered a one year extension in the defender’s contract which also activated a peculiar clause. The 30 year old will be available for a paltry £25m but a deal should be done before the final two weeks of the transfer window.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is destined to land a top notch defender in the summer following an underwhelming defensive performance. Alderweireld’s availability has raised a lot of eyebrows within United but with Solskjaer opted a youth policy it remains to be seen whether the Reds Devils stick to their plan or break their transfer rules.

On beings asked about his future, the Spurs defender confirmed he is ready to don the same jersey again in the next season. “I’m going to say the same thing that I’ve been saying for the past couple of years.

“The only focus is Spurs, because of this focus I think I had a good season as well. I have one year left on my contract, so in my head, I will play for Spurs next season.”
