Manchester United to activate a clause over Rashford into his current contract

Rashford’s impressive World Cup performances are paying off for the player and Manchester United.

According to transfer insider, Dean Jones, Manchester United wants Marcus Rashford to stay at Old Trafford and will ‘activate a clause’ written into his current contract.

Erik ten Hag’s side is fifth in the Premier League table and he will be assessing his squad ahead of the January window.

According to the Mirror, the Red Devils intend to take advantage of a 12-month option written into Rashford’s contract as they look to stop him being able to talk to foreign clubs from January 1.

The report adds Man United also wants to reward the winger, who is currently at the World Cup, with fresh terms and his priority is to remain at Old Trafford.

Rashford’s current deal is worth £200,000-per-week and he will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with overseas suitors at the turn of the year if his long-term future is not secured.

Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Juventus are taking a keen interest in the 25-year-old’s performances in Qatar. They could look to pounce if uncertainty over whether he will be at Manchester United beyond the end of the season continues.

Rashford is clinically good this season, scoring eight goals and registering three assists in 19 appearances for the Red Devils.

Jones admits Rashford’s impressive World Cup performances are paying off for the player and Manchester United.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s all playing out nicely for both the club and for Rashford, to be honest.

“United want him to stay and they’re going to activate a clause that means he stays another year anyway.”

Rashford is in the running to win the Golden Boot as he grabbed three goals during the World Cup group stage.
