According to the Colombian version of AS, Manchester United is among the teams hoping to capture Bologna centre-back Jhon Lucumi this summer. Raphael Varane’s contract is scheduled to expire at the end of the month therefore, the Red Devils are looking to add a new centre defender.
According to AS, Lucumi has become available for Manchester United. However, Bournemouth, AC Milan, and Napoli are also interested in signing the 25-year-old central defender, so Manchester United is not the only team after him. Bologna is willing to let go of him for £15 million, but if the Premier League shows interest, that amount may rise. Lucumi’s focus on representing Colombia at the Copa America may cause a delay in an agreement.
Defender Jhon Lucumi would be brilliant bargain deal
With Bologna, the 25-year-old enjoyed an incredible 2023–24 season. Bologna qualified for the Champions League for the first time in sixty years because of Lucumi’s ten division clean sheets. Lucumi is looking forward to a new challenge, despite the club’s success. We believe that, given the rumoured price, he would be a fantastic steal for United to sign.
United can ensure that he receives consistent playing time with Lisandro Martinez due to his ability to play at right center-back. The team is able to provide more favourable terms for salaries than its competitors. Rather than shelling out large sums of money for known superstars, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has expressed a preference for acquisitions that are thought to be value for money.
