Manchester United and Panathinaikos, the Greek powerhouses, are heading toward a signing of winger Facundo Pellistri. Now that they have sold Mason Greenwood and Donny van de Beek, the Red Devils must move on players and make money to keep their books balanced.

With Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro having signed, other additions are still in the works. It is possible that the Uruguayan winger, who was loaned out from Old Trafford to Granada in Spain during the second half of the previous season, is transferring again.

The Greek newspaper Sportime reported that there has been “significant progress” in the negotiations with Manchester United. There have been talks. Erik ten Hag has given the 22-year-old plenty of chances since he moved to United in 2020, but he hasn’t shown enough consistency or wowed enough to play frequently for Manchester United.

PANATHINAIKOS IN MAN UTD TALKS FOR PELLISTRI

The Red Devils are open to selling Pellistri, whose contract with United expires in 2025. Greek Super League team Panathinaikos is the most recent club to indicate interest, according to writer Giannis Chorianopoulos. After Pellistri’s impressive performance in the Copa America in the United States, where he helped Uruguay finish in third place, several teams expressed interest in signing him, including Corinthians, Flamengo, Besiktas, and Boca Juniors.

It remains to be seen whether this turns into something concrete, with Panathinaikos attempting to sign the Uruguayan international this summer.
