Scott McTominay, a midfielder for Napoli, is being pursued by several teams, including Manchester United, due to his exceptional play since joining Serie A. Sources in the business have told me that McTominay has suitors hoping to get him back into the Premier League, as I initially reported here for the Daily Briefing.
Although the Scotland international was never a consistent starter at Manchester United, they would now be eager to bring him back, and Tottenham and Newcastle United are also interested. Although it doesn’t seem realistic that the 28-year-old will leave Napoli, Barcelona has been indicated to me as a team with a sincere and tangible interest in him.
It appears that it might take at least €50 million to get McTominay away, even if teams are lining up to buy him. However, Napoli has not yet established an asking price. One insider informed me that “there is concrete interest in Scott McTominay.” “Manchester United would have him back and monitor Tottenham and Newcastle.” He is also seen by Barcelona as a potential addition to their midfield.
Manchester United wants to bring back Scott McTominay
Scott McTominay is wanted back by Manchester United. After leaving Manchester United in the summer of 2024 for about €30 million, 28-year-old Scott McTominay is presently thriving at Napoli.
In his debut season, the Scottish midfielder won the Serie A championship and was named the league’s best player. He placed 18th in this autumn’s Ballon d’Or standings because of his exceptional efforts. Manchester United is reportedly keen to have him back, but McTominay seems content in Naples and is unlikely to ask for a move as early as January.
The athlete has a contract that expires in 2028, but Napoli and Antonio Conte are now refusing to trade him. McTominay now has 17 goals and 7 assists in 50 appearances for Napoli after scoring 4 goals and dishing out 1 assist in 14 games this season. In addition, he has 65 caps for Scotland and 13 goals.
