Manchester United’s pursuit of Brentford’s dynamic forward, Bryan Mbeumo, has entered a tense new phase.
Man Utd’s Second £62.5m Offer Turned Down by Brentford
The Red Devils’ second bid reported at £55 million up front plus £7.5 million in add-ons, matching the £62.5 million they paid for Matheus Cunha has been firmly turned down by Brentford today.
United’s determination remains clear. A previous £55 million offer had already been rejected, and the improved follow-up also failed to meet Brentford’s demands.
Despite the setback, both clubs continue negotiations, with the player himself keen to make the move to Old Trafford.
Mbeumo has shown ambition, reportedly informing both Brentford and Tottenham, not to mention United that Old Trafford is his preferred destination.
Rival suitor Tottenham Hotspur, bolstered by former Brentford boss Thomas Frank, is no longer pushing hard, clearing the path for United to lead the chase.
Last season, Mbeumo delivered 20 Premier League goals and seven assists, ranking among the top three scorers and underlining his value to Brentford’s top-half finish.
He also impressed with his relentless work-rate covering vast distances, sprinting hard, and registering the fourth-fastest speed in the division.
Man Utd’s current manager Ruben Amorim views Mbeumo as a key fit for his system a versatile, pressing-oriented forward who can complement Cunha in United’s attacking setup.
With funds reportedly available even without player sales, United have flexibility but they must meet Brentford’s valuation, believed to hover between £60–65 million.
Mbeumo’s desire to join United adds emotional weight to the negotiations. His hunger to step up to one of English football’s biggest stages is palpable.
Now, Manchester United face a choice: meet Brentford’s terms or risk losing their frontline priority and potentially watch the attacker head elsewhere.
