Manchester United Academy midfielder Jacob Devaney has secured a loan move to Scottish Premiership side St Mirren for the remainder of the season.

Deadline Day Deal: Man Utd Prospect Devaney Heads to St Mirren for Experience

The 18-year-old completed the switch late on deadline day, seeking his first taste of senior football.

Devaney, who captains United’s Under-21 side, has been a consistent performer in Premier League 2 this campaign.

His form also earned him recognition with the Republic of Ireland Under-21s, where he impressed against England last November.

The young Irishman expressed his enthusiasm about the move.

“It’s a great opportunity for me to come here, do well and try to help the lads finish the season strong,” Devaney told St Mirren’s official website.

He highlighted that the chance represented a significant career step for him and his family.

St Mirren manager Steven Robinson actively pursued the loan, believing Devaney adds a new dimension to his squad.

The Paisley club, currently tenth in the league table, confirmed the signing subject to international clearance.

At United, Devaney has openly spoken about his ambition to follow in the footsteps of famed Irish Red Devils.

This loan provides a direct pathway to showcase his ability in a competitive first-team environment.

He will face familiar competition in Scotland, as fellow United youngster Ethan Williams is currently on loan at Falkirk.

Devaney could make his immediate debut for St Mirren as they prepare to face Hearts of Midlothian.

The move offers the promising midfielder a vital platform to develop and press his case for future involvement at Old Trafford.
