Sofyan Amrabat set to finalize Fenerbahce move as transfer deadline approaches
In a significant development just before the transfer window closes, former Manchester United midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is set to fly into Istanbul to complete his move to Fenerbahce.
The Moroccan international’s transfer has gained momentum as he prepares to leave behind his stint with Fiorentina and embrace a new challenge in Turkey.
Amrabat’s journey through this transfer window has been eventful. Last summer, he was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United, but the arrival of Manuel Ugarte quickly shifted United’s focus. Ugarte’s signing became a priority, and Amrabat found himself on the periphery.
As the transfer market heated up again this year, Amrabat’s name resurfaced, with clubs like SSC Napoli, Atletico Madrid, and Everton all showing interest. However, it is Fenerbahce that has succeeded in securing his services.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news, sharing that Amrabat’s private flight to Istanbul is scheduled as the final step in his transfer.
The deal includes a €2 million loan fee, a €13 million obligation to buy, and an additional €3 million in add-ons. Amrabat has agreed to a four-year contract with the Turkish giants.
Despite speculation about a potential stay with Fiorentina, where he has been a key player, the move to Fenerbahce offers a fresh start.
His recent contributions, including a vital role in Fiorentina’s penalty shootout victory over Puskás Akadémia, underline his ongoing form and professionalism.
For Manchester United, this move signals the end of their pursuit of Amrabat. The Red Devils, having secured Ugarte, seem unlikely to seek another midfielder before the window closes.
However, with Mason Mount’s recurring injury issues, the possibility remains that they might re-enter the market for a free agent like Adrien Rabiot, who is still without a club.
As Amrabat prepares for this new chapter in Istanbul, Fenerbahce fans eagerly await his arrival, hoping he can add both strength and creativity to their midfield.
