Manchester United wants to sign Marcel Sabitzer on a permanent deal.

The 29-year-old midfielder netted his first United goal in the dramatic comeback goal against Fulham before the international break.

He continued his goalscoring form with his national side, scoring twice and also providing an assist in Austria’s 4-1 victory over Azerbaijan.

Austria manager Ralf Rangnick who served as United’s interim boss last season believes Sabitzer has been playing with more confidence since joining Man United.

‘He has a lot more confidence than when he was at Bayern,’ Rangnick said.

‘Nobody dropped out in this game, but of course you can say that Sabi was the difference player after scoring two goals and preparing one.’

The 29-year-old has made nine appearances for United and was brought to cover for Christian Eriksen who is expected to be out till May with his ankle injury.

The Bayern Munich midfielder will reassess his future in the summer after a coaching change at the German club.

Thomas Tuchel replaced Julian Nagelsmann as the new head coach for the Bavarians.

According to sources, Sabitzer is open to a permanent move to Old Trafford this summer.
