Hansi Flick has approved the move after speaking directly with Rashford, who has publicly expressed his strong desire to join the Catalans.

Barcelona are prepared to cover Rashford’s entire adjusted wage, estimated at around €10 million gross, a steep reduction from his former United salary of £16.9 million per year.

The salary sacrifice, reportedly up to 40%, appears central to making the transfer viable under La Liga’s strict financial controls.

The buyout clause is expected to fall in the €30–35 million range. While Manchester United originally valued the attacker closer to €40–45 million, Barcelona’s negotiations appear to have driven the figure lower.

At 27, Rashford has scored 138 goals in 426 appearances for United and recently helped Aston Villa during a loan spell that produced four goals and six assists in 17 games.

Villa opted not to exercise their £40 million purchase clause, leaving Barcelona as his preferred destination.

According to multiple reports, Rashford won’t feature in Manchester United’s plans under new manager Ruben Amorim, who has criticized the forward’s work ethic publicly.

Rashford has been training separately and has already joined a group of five senior players given leave to pursue transfers.

Footballing legends have weighed in, with Teddy Sheringham sharply questioning the decision to allow Rashford to join a club of Barcelona’s stature given his recent form.

He described the situation as “soul‑destroying” for someone who once dreamed of playing at Old Trafford.

Still, for Rashford, this opportunity represents a chance to reignite his career at one of Europe’s biggest stages alongside young talents like Lamine Yamal, whom he mentioned specifically when talking about playing “with the best.”

If finalized, Rashford is expected to fly to Barcelona imminently to undergo medical checks, before joining the squad for their upcoming pre-season tour of Asia.
