Manchester United might welcome Marcus Rashford back to Old Trafford at the end of the season.
Transfer U-Turn: Marcus Rashford Likely to Return to Old Trafford This Summer
The England forward is currently on loan at Barcelona, but the Spanish club is having second thoughts about signing him permanently.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Barcelona is now exploring alternative options. The Catalan side wants to renegotiate the deal, either by lowering the transfer fee or arranging another loan.
However, Manchester United refuses to change the original agreement. This hard stance forces Barcelona to look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements.
Rashford joined Barcelona on a temporary basis earlier this season. The 27-year-old has scored 13 goals for club and country this campaign, taking his career total to 173.
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has praised Rashford’s “unbelievable” finishing ability, especially after a Champions League win over Newcastle.
Despite those compliments, the club does not seem willing to meet United’s terms.
If Barcelona walks away, Rashford would return to Manchester United this summer. That would give United’s next permanent manager an extra attacking option.
The club remains undecided on who will lead the team next season, but whoever gets the job could count on a motivated homegrown star.
Rashford grew up at United’s academy and remains a fan favorite. A return would add depth to the attack and avoid another complicated loan search.
For now, United waits to see whether Barcelona changes its position or moves on to other targets. Either way, Rashford’s future looks set for a decisive turn in the coming months.
