Marouane Fellaini is targeted by Marseille

The midfielder’s contract will expire next month

Marouane Fellaini joined Manchester United from Everton £27.5 million, signing a four year contract with an option to extend one year in 2013.

The midfielder has struggled to establish himself as a regular for the club and often used as an impact sub by the managers. He has often been linked with a move away from the club in the previous transfer windows.

The 30 year old was very close to joining Galatasaray last summer but a deal never went through as Jose Mourinho wanted him to stay another year. The club exercised the option to extend his contract by one year.

The Belgian International has had limited chances under Mourinho this campaign as there was lot of competition in the midfield. His contract is set to expire next month and likely to leave the club on a free transfer as he is yet to agree a new deal with the club.

Both the sides desire to reach an agreement and the Red Devils have offered him a deal which will keep him at the for another season with an option for another 12 months. But Fellaini wants a longer deal of guaranteed 2 years with an option for another one.

Ligue 1 giants Marseille are interested in Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini, reports L’Equipe.

According to the reports, club’s sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has held talks with the Belgium midfielder representatives over a potential move, but his wage demands may prove to be a stumbling block.

He has also attracted interest form Serie A giants AC Milan and offered him a 3 year deal, a contract more in keeping with his demands according to reports.

Fellaini is currently preparing for the World Cup in Russia as he is selected in the Belgium World Cup squad and it is believed his future will be resolved before the big event begins.
