Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has received a significant boost ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa.

Michael Carrick handed huge tactical advantage after double Aston Villa injury blow

With both teams fighting fiercely for a top-four spot, the Reds now have a clear path to exploit a major weakness in the Villa midfield.

Visiting manager Unai Emery will travel to Old Trafford without two of his most important engine-room operators.

Boubacar Kamara and Youri Tielemans are both ruled out, leaving a gaping hole in the centre of the pitch for the Midlands side.

Kamara’s absence is particularly damaging. The 26-year-old has started 17 league games this season, acting as the team’s defensive shield.

His ability to read the game and break up attacks provides the platform for Villa’s more creative players. Without him, Villa have looked vulnerable, winning just two of their last eight league matches.

The situation worsens for Emery with Tielemans also sidelined. The Belgian playmaker offers composure and passing range, and his ankle injury has robbed Villa of their midfield balance. While captain John McGinn returned from injury in midweek, he may not be ready to start.

This leaves Emery with a makeshift pairing. He will likely rely on Douglas Luiz and Amadou Onana. Onana brings physicality but lacks consistency, while Luiz has struggled for confidence since returning from difficult spells at Juventus and Nottingham Forest.

Carrick must attack this weakness. His own midfield trio of Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, and Kobbie Mainoo is in stellar form.

Casemiro can dictate the tempo, and his ability to play vertical passes straight through the heart of the pitch could prove decisive.

Villa lack pace in central areas, meaning quick transitions will create valuable opportunities. Furthermore, left-back Ian Maatsen loves to push forward, but his attacking runs leave space behind him.

With Pau Torres expected at centre-back, United should also target the Spaniard’s limited mobility.

If Carrick successfully targets these vulnerabilities, United can secure a crucial six-point advantage over a direct rival in the race for Champions League qualification.
