“There are definitely things we can do better. However, the guys are driven to succeed and to get better. “So far, we’ve accomplished a great deal. Without a doubt, we must do more of it. When United last triumphed at the Bridge in February 2020, Carrick was in control while supporting Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

In November 2021, he played his first Premier League game under his first tenure as manager at the same venue. It was a respectable 1-1 draw that stands out for his audacious choice to bench Cristiano Ronaldo. Mauricio Pochettino moved Chelsea’s home and away dugouts two seasons ago, but United supporters will be hoping that seeing Carrick on the touchline is auspicious.

Surprisingly, Solskjaer oversaw United’s three victories in the FA Cup, League Cup, and Premier League over their last 17 games at SW6, dating back to Sir Alex Ferguson’s last season.

Even if the current Premier League season is lacking, it is still competitive. United has lost 17 points to the bottom six, and there are no guarantees.

They have won 15 of a possible 24 points against the top six, and Carrick was in charge of their victories over Aston Villa, Manchester City, and Arsenal.

Carrick urges United to keep building ahead of clash with Chelsea

When Chelsea played United in May of last year, with the top five still up for grabs, the atmosphere among the supporters was bland and indifferent. Carrick can anticipate fervent support from the travelling contingent on Saturday night.

United will undoubtedly be in third position at the 8 p.m. kickoff this weekend since they have the luxury of taking the pitch ahead of Aston Villa, who are now in fourth place.

However, United will be at the bottom of the running order once more the following week when they play Brentford on Monday night.

They could theoretically be in fifth place by then, with Chelsea behind them by only one point. By then, Carrick’s chances of getting a job may be considerably better.
